Poster Inspiration
We explored other horror movie poster to help gain inspiration for our own, these are a few we looked at.
Mirrors
Mirrors is a supernatural film released on August 15th 2008, it based on an ex-cop and his family are the target of an evil force that is using mirrors as a gateway into their home.
This is the poster for the film Mirrors, we liked the idea of a dark background and a faint mysterious girl in the background, we though this would be a good potential idea for our poster as our main character remains mysterious throughout our trailer. However once we looked at the dvd cover for the second instalment of Mirrors we thought that this would relate more to our storyline as our Yuri Mr Cullen is released through our main character repeating his name into a mirror, also the first death in our trailer is by a face being brutal smashed into one.

A Nightmare on Elm Street
This is the poster for the film Nightmare on Elm Street, an American slasher film which revolves around a group of teenagers who are being stalked in their dreams by an mysterious man. It was released in 2010 on the 30th April.
We decided this was a good poster for inspiration because the dark figure of the man looking down on the girl could represent our Yuri showing he has control over the vulnerable teenager from how they are positioned.
The idea we have got from this poster is a possessed girl stood in the centre of the room with her victims surrounding her. We would use the boiler room for the background of our poster as that is where one of the characters finds friends dead and later on his death.

The Final Destination
This poster is of the film Final Destination which as realised on 28th August 2009, this film is about a young man's premonition of a deadly race-car crash helps saves the lives of his peers, Death sets out to collect those who evaded their end. This poster is similar to Mirrors with the shattered glass and a face, but Final Destination uses a skull instead, this gives makes it more mysterious as to who is on the front cover.
If we were to take inspiration for our poster we would have the main victim's (holly) head surrounded by glass and to have Mr cullen's mouth replacing hers.

The Last House on the Left
This is the poster for 'The Last House on the Left' which is about a gang who kidnap and brutally assault two young women, this gang then unknowingly finds refuge at a vacation home belonging to the parents of one of the victims: a mother and father who devise an increasingly gruesome series of revenge tactics. It was released in 2009.
This poster inspired us to create our own because the picture of the house can relate to our accommodation home; it is isolated showing how vulnerable the victims will be. The background is black which represents death, this highlights that death is going to be a major part of the film. |
The Cabin in the Woods
This is the poster for 'The Cabin in the Woods' which is about five friends who go on a break in an isolated cabin in the woods where they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods together. It was released in 2012.
This poster inspired us to create our own because the twisted photo of the cabin is surrounded by trees showing the setting of the woods and how it is isolated, this links to our accommodation home in our trailer. The background is a misty white including the shadows of the tress, the colour white represents innocence and this highlights the innocence of the the teenagers who are murdered in the film. |
