Horror based production companies
Twisted Pictures
Twisted Pictures is an American independent Production Company, mainly creating films of the horror genre. The company was founded in 2004 by Evolution Entertainment's Mark Burg, Oren Koules and Gregg Hoffman. They are best known for producing the Saw film series. Twisted Pictures Production Company mainly specifies in horror movies. We found this production opening was very effective with its use of barbed wire and colour scheme. The company have taken into account the idea of 'twisted' by incorporating barbed wire to twist around the company name; in addition the choice of barbed wire relates to the genre horror. The colours used are basic, dark colours which get straight to the point/purpose of the opening. The company uses a plain black background with bright white writing in a basic font, alongside red barbed wire. This gives off to our group an impression of being in a void and being trapped. We liked the scratching noises it made as the wire tightened and expanded. The use of the sound enhances the horror imagery. Twisted Pictures are responsible for the production of Saw IV - 2009, Dead Silence - 2007 and Chain Letter - 2010. |

Similar to most horror production openings, the font and colours used are basic and dark, its as if it's an essential to all companies working in horror. This production company shows a skeleton looking through a keyhole, the use of the keyhole relates to a horror theorists conception; Carol Clover believes that horrors based upon killers/murderers choose to lock/keep their victims acting in the sense that they're being kept imprisoned. Expanding on this point, the beginning of the opening shows a door being closed; giving further evidence on the theorists theory. The choice of a key hole shape connects with the use of 'House' in the company title Ghost House Pictures are responsible for the production of Evil Dead - 2013, The Grudge 3 - 2009 and Boogeyman - 2005. |

The company's name is in bold writing which helps it stand out and become a memorable name, in addition to the name they have included a house silhouette around the 'H' of the Production name. The heartbeat in the background is effective as fast heartbeats not only create but are commonly related to creating tension and drama. It makes the audience think something is going to happen.
